Top 6 expected features of the OnePlus 6T!

It's October and its that time of the year when OnePlus announces the second iteration of its flagship for the year and this year that's the OnePlus 6T. We all know that the "T" upgrade that this Shenzhen based company offers is much like the "S" upgrade which the Cupertino based company is offering for years. Leaks of smartphones before their eventual launches is nothing new, Pixel 3 was even unboxed on camera before the launch !! So in this blog, let's take a look at some of the features that we expect to see in the OnePlus 6T.

In-display fingerprint scanner

In my OnePlus 6 blog, I mentioned that keeping the fingerprint scanner was a good idea. Well, this time OnePlus might opt for the In Display Fingerprint Scanner. This feature was almost confirmed by the OnePlus CEO in an interview. Although this technology is new and no tier 1 brand has included this in their flagship yet, but OnePlus seems to be the one to start this trend. This seems a good differentiating factor or the Ultimate Selling Point of the OnePlus 6T. The scanner will light up when needed and will not be visible when not in use.

The waterdrop notch

The OnePlus 6 introduced (copied) the iPhone like notch. Everyone liked it, just because it was smaller than the one present on the X. This time around though OnePlus is keeping it but in the form of a small waterdrop. According to rumors the 6T might come with the notch like the Oppo R17 and Oppo F9. It looks just like a water droplet hence the name. This notch will be smaller than the one currently present on the OnePlus 6 & almost negligible if compared to the Pixel 3's bathtub notch resulting in the increase of screen to body ratio.

Removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack

I personally wouldn't call this a feature but as long as the company is providing the type-c to 3.5mm headphone port dongle, unlike Apple, I'm fine with it. I get it, it looks like a small port but it takes a lot of the internal space and if you want to make the phone thinner you have to remove it. This is not confirmed yet but OnePlus CEO did say that going further they might announce the version 2 of their bullet earphones with a type-c connector instead of the 3.5mm connector which suggests the removal of the jack.

Triple camera setup

The OnePlus 6T might come with a triple camera setup on the back. Again this is unconfirmed but it makes a lot of sense. It is said to be using the same trio of sensors used on Oppo R17. We can see a primary sensor of 20MP and secondary telephoto sensor of 12MP. If it does copy the R17 then the third sensor will most likely be the TOF 3D sensor. After the Samsung Galaxy A9's quad cameras triple camera setup seems a little old, but hey, the image quality is the only thing that matters! That's why the Pixel 3 is still having a single lens on the back and everybody is fine with it.

New Design

The inclusion of the new waterdrop notch means more screen real estate up top and we are also hearing that the chin of OnePlus 6T might also be smaller than its predecessor. The In-display fingerprint scanner means we can see a cleaner back with two or even three cameras. Hardware-wise it will also come with the usual Snapdragon 845 processor and 8GB of RAM & 256GB of storage option. It could also come with 10GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

IP rating & Wireless charging

I mean let's face it, OnePlus 6's glass back was just useless without the inclusion of wireless charging capability. This year the company might just add the functionality. There's no word about this inclusion but it seems about time to use that back glass panel for some functionality. Also, the OnePlus 6 wasn't IP certified for its water and dust resistance ability. This was kind of a worrying fact for the users but OnePlus said it was splash proof but it was just a statement without a proof. This year OnePlus might want to fix that issue by getting the OnePlus 6T certified.

My opinion

While the OnePlus 6 was a good phone but it had its shortcomings and with this upgrade OnePlus seems to be perfecting the 6. Also as the title of OnePlus offerings has been regarding the speed of the device I'd also like to see a fast in-display fingerprint scanner in the OnePlus 6T. As per leaks, the 6T is coming in October,  precisely October 17th. Pricing of this phone is also critical for its success as it always has been for OnePlus devices. The 6T might get a 50$ price bump but considering the number of features it's bringing over the 6, I would say the 50$ price bump might be worth it, if and only if it brings all of the above mentioned 6 features.

Please share the features that you want to see in the 6T in the comments. You can also find me on TwitterYoutube, Gmail & Blogger.

3 Alternatives that are better than Apple’s AirPods Max!

Apple just launched AirPods Max, an over the ear style headphones for 550$ or ₹59,900 starting to ship from 15th December. Now apple clearly wants to sell these during the Christmas holiday season to the customers who want to buy anything and everything they sell. After launching total 5 iPhones this year (iPhone SE2, 12Mini, 12, 12Pro & 12ProMax) along with 3 iPads and 2 MacBooks, apple is going all in on their products lineup. This new product completes their audio hardware lineup which was missing a Max. While we were waiting for a cheap version of AirPods Pro, the tech giant went ahead and launched the more expensive version of it. With a starting price close to or in some regions more than the Sony PlayStation5, the question has to be asked, are they worth it? Well, no one has listened to them, other than MKBHD maybe? First of all, let me just clear that this is not a review, these are just my first impressions & the comparison is just based on it’s price and not the featu

3 Main Reasons Why You Should Not Install iOS 13 Public Beta!

Apple confirmed iOS 13 on the stage of its Worldwide Developer Conference 2019 (WWDC 2019) in early June. The company used the opportunity to highlight some of the great features that the new version of the operating system will bring to the compatible iPhones. The final version of iOS 13 will be released next month alongside the new 2019 iPhones. The cycle of releasing public betas and developer betas started after WWDC 2019. While the first 3-4 beta versions were filled with bugs here and there, the latest beta versions are quite stable and are worth trying if you wish. You should have an iPhone 6s or above to try these beta versions, as apple ended the software support for iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 & 6Plus on iOS12.
