OnePlus recently launched their flagship device for the next 6 months that's the OnePlus 6. Since 6 is an integral part of its name and its flagship status is only going to last six months before 6T's launch, therefore, we are looking at 6 reasons for this phone.
Price
Price has always been an integral selling point of the OnePlus devices since its inception. So this time around they have still managed to keep the price down and managed to get that price which is about 50% less than that of the flagship devices and retaining its tag as "The flagship Killer". Although they had to cut some corners to get that tag & its well thought and implemented. The OnePlus 6 starts at Rs.34,999 (529$).
Surely OnePlus has been hiking the prices steadily but still, they have managed to keep it in the affordable range.
Performance
The term flagship killer isn't just limited to its pricing as it packs some serious 2018 flagship internals. The tradition which started with the OnePlus One. OnePlus 6 has Snapdragon 845 coupled with six or eight gigs of RAM and 64/128/256 gigs of storage options.
With these internals, it already looks like a great performer but OnePlus's Oxygen OS just takes the performance up a notch (Pun intended). Oxygen OS is company's operating skin built on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. Oxygen OS is a lightweight skin which keeps the looks of stock android while adding some of OnePlus's own tweaks to make the UI better. With the phone already getting the Android P beta update in the first phase, it looks like it'll be first in the update lineup as well.
Design
As mentioned above this phone is priced very cheaply as compared to other flagships but despite that affordable price this time around OnePlus has gone with a glass sandwich design. The design does not feel cheap at all. It has an OLED panel up front with the 2018's 19:9 aspect ratio. You might find the 19:9 aspect ratio weird but its because the OnePlus 6 has a notch up top to catch up with the trend that iPhone started later last year. But because its an OLED panel the company has given an option to hide the notch and turns out to be a nifty option.
Dash Charging
If this was any other phone we would've never talked about the charging system it provides out of the box. But since its OnePlus we gotta talk about that. Despite having a glass back OnePlus skipped the wireless charging on this phone. When asked about the reason they said the phone already has dash charging. Well as weird as it may sound it's partially true. Dash charging is one of the fastest if not fastest charging system we currently have. It completely charges your device in about 90 minutes which is way better than wireless charging. But I still think wireless charging should've been there since the glass is present. But they can always use it as a feature in the 6T launch.
Presence of headphone jack
I hate to say it but nowadays its a feature of the smartphones. When pixel ditched the headphone jack last year after making fun of apple for doing it we knew that Jack's life is coming to an end. We still are not completely in the Bluetooth era but still, companies are removing the 3.5mm jack to make the phones look thin. But OnePlus 6 keeps the headphone jack alive. It is one of those few companies who listen to their customer base and try to make them happy. The headphone jack is necessary on this phone because the speaker on this phone is terrible by today's standard but nevertheless keeping it was a smart move on OnePlus's side.
Other small things that matter
Keeping the fingerprint scanner
If you are following the OnePlus line of products from the past year or so you know that they try to copy some ideas from Apple flagships or should I say they try to take inspiration from it. Dual camera position, overall design, a notch up top, you name it. But considering all this they have still kept the fingerprint scanner in this years device despite apple's removal act. They have included a face unlock feature though even if it's only based on the front facing camera which is not as secure as Face ID.
Alert Slider
Again a concept inspiration from Apple, nevermind. If you have used a OnePlus device you'll know how useful the alert slider is. When Samsung is giving a dedicated key for their Bixby (practically waste) and Google giving a squeeze gesture for google assistant (kinda useful) OnePlus has kindly given the button to switch between the sound profiles. Although it has been shifted to the right side, its still there to help you change the sound profile without unlocking the phone which is great.
My opinion
The OnePlus 6 is a great phone. It isn't perfect but it gets the job done. The glass back could've been avoided if wireless charging was never an option but it doesn't hurt to have a good looking phone.
Water resistance is a norm nowadays but OnePlus have not got any IP rating for their 6th iteration of affordable phones. That said they do claim that it'll be fine with a splash of water but its just their words without any certificate. Cameras are improved but still, they are not the best in the business. Considering that the Google pixel 2 now costs mere Rs 48,000 (649$).
But overall if an above par camera, no water resistance, low speaker output and lack of wireless charging is not what you care for then the OnePlus 6 is a steal of a phone. Grab it soon before its successor comes out in 6 months!
Thanks sarvesh sir this will be more clear information to buy one plus..
