A box which sucks pure water from dry air.

Water is a necessity for human beings, but still clean & drinkable water is very hard to get. Almost one-third of the world's population is water stressed and the discovery of the water box is a giant leap in the right direction to reduce that number. Researchers from all over the world are still looking for a method to do this kind of discovery but the ones working in the Berkeley University of California have found a way to build an apparatus which can suck water from dry air of desserts. So in this blog, we are going to take a look at some of the aspects of this box.

Scientific working

Professor Omar Yaghi is a chemist and he has created a metal-organic framework or MOF which absorbs and emits water on the behavior of the surrounding temperature. MOF is basically a powder made of tiny crystals which absorbs water when the surrounding temperature decreases and releases it when the temperature increases.

Practical working

A box of about two feet per side size is assembled with a layer of MOF on top of that which is exposed to the surrounding air. They observed that every night when temperature decreases and humidity increases water gets trapped in the MOF layer. In the morning because of sun's heat, the water gets emitted from MOF and it condenses on the sides of the box. A lid is covering the box to protect the condensed water from evaporation. As of now, one night's experiment can produce 3 ounces or 89ml of water. This box operates at ambient temperature with ambient sunlight and without any additional energy requirements

Future of this box

We all know that 89ml is not enough for more than a few sips but Omar Yaghi is aware of that fact and is currently testing the next generation of MOF. Currently, the MOF uses zirconium but an aluminum-based MOF is already in the works. Scientists are saying that it will cost 99% less and will produce twice as much water. With this box, you can collect water even in dessert. The aluminum MOF will make this a practical solution with its efficiency and low cost. There are already commercial products in development. Yaghi is also planning to do more tests with mechanical improvements and new MOF in the hottest months of the summer.

3 Alternatives that are better than Apple’s AirPods Max!

Apple just launched AirPods Max, an over the ear style headphones for 550$ or ₹59,900 starting to ship from 15th December. Now apple clearly wants to sell these during the Christmas holiday season to the customers who want to buy anything and everything they sell. After launching total 5 iPhones this year (iPhone SE2, 12Mini, 12, 12Pro & 12ProMax) along with 3 iPads and 2 MacBooks, apple is going all in on their products lineup. This new product completes their audio hardware lineup which was missing a Max. While we were waiting for a cheap version of AirPods Pro, the tech giant went ahead and launched the more expensive version of it. With a starting price close to or in some regions more than the Sony PlayStation5, the question has to be asked, are they worth it? Well, no one has listened to them, other than MKBHD maybe? First of all, let me just clear that this is not a review, these are just my first impressions & the comparison is just based on it’s price and not the featu

3 Main Reasons Why You Should Not Install iOS 13 Public Beta!

Apple confirmed iOS 13 on the stage of its Worldwide Developer Conference 2019 (WWDC 2019) in early June. The company used the opportunity to highlight some of the great features that the new version of the operating system will bring to the compatible iPhones. The final version of iOS 13 will be released next month alongside the new 2019 iPhones. The cycle of releasing public betas and developer betas started after WWDC 2019. While the first 3-4 beta versions were filled with bugs here and there, the latest beta versions are quite stable and are worth trying if you wish. You should have an iPhone 6s or above to try these beta versions, as apple ended the software support for iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 & 6Plus on iOS12. But in this article, I am going to talk about 3 main reasons why you should not install iOS 13 public beta on your iPhone. The latest beta versions of iOS 13 are stable but are still causing problems for iPhone users. iOS beta enthusiasts are still facing software
